Sleeper Cell is the Winner!
Posted January 31st, 2008 by adminWe're pleased to announce that Sleeper Cell is the winning game design for the first ever 'Let's Change the Game' competition! Sleeper Cell is a fun, immersive and original game that invites players to participate in the epic yet kitschy battle between the forces of Good and Evil; in the grand tradition of Comic Relief, it presents a light-hearted way to raise funds and have fun in the process. We're now already hard at work with the winning team and CR UK, making this game a reality.
The overall quality of entries was extremely high, and it was a tough decision choosing the winner; we certainly wished we had more money to fund additional games to be developed! However, we're very pleased with the winning game design, and we're confident that this ARG will be a tremendous force for good. Stay tuned here for more details about the development of the game!
Winning Team Announcement Coming Soon!
Posted January 31st, 2008 by adminFor those of you who are desperately refreshing their email and web browsers in order to find out who the winning team is, we're happy to say that we have decided upon a winning team, and we'll be informing all teams of our decision in the next few hours. We'll also be publishing the decision here on this website. So, if you haven't heard anything from us, don't panic!
Four teams shortlisted
Posted December 3rd, 2007 by adminI'm pleased to announce that after careful and thorough deliberation, we've chosen to shortlist four game designs: 'Dear Emma', 'Sleeper Cell', 'I Want a New Drug' and 're:SEARCH'. We'll be contacting these teams either today or tomorrow with details of what they need to do in the next round of the competition, and all the relevant feedback and suggestions from judges.
We were all very impressed with the quality of entries for the competition in general, and so we'll also be contacting non-shortlisted teams with our thoughts on their designs and why we ultimately decided not to shortlist their designs.
First Round closes
Posted November 17th, 2007 by adminThank you everyone for submitting your entries! We've received a number of very intriguing and original entries, and we're all looking forward to reading through them. We're particularly impressed with the spread of people who are taking part - there are teams from all over the world and from all disciplines, which is wonderful to see.
It's worth saying that we haven't set a particular number or percentage of entries that we will shortlist; if we like your entry and we want to hear more about it, then you'll be shortlisted. Ideally, if they're all good, then they'll all qualify!
Pencils down!
Posted November 15th, 2007 by adminTomorrow, we'll be closing the entry period for the competition, so if you haven't already entered then it'd be a good idea to put your last finishing touches on your proposal pretty quickly! Over the next two weeks, the judges will carefully review the entries and contact shortlisted teams by December 3rd; check back here for more news about who made the cut.
Development fund increases!
Posted October 4th, 2007 by adminGood news for the first post on this blog - thanks to the generosity of two donors, the development fund has increased from £1000 ($2000) to £1300 ($2600)! This will provide extra resources for the winning team to develop the ARG. I should point out, however, that we are not actively seeking donors now; we would rather people save their money for when the game launches, to donate directly to Cancer Research UK. However, if you really want to donate specifically to the development fund, let us know using the Contact page.
